Name of this market is derived from words Bering (Beringin trees) and harjo (welfare), is expected that the location, Beringin forest may bring prosperity. Beringharjo market is known as a destination and a trading center of Yogyakarta's batik products, whether as batik cloth or other products such as batik garment, house dress, shorts, pajamas etc.. The price also vary from cheap to expensive.

Puppet Museum (Museum Wayang)
Located in Batavia Old City area, there is a museum called the Museum Wayang. This museum is located beside of Fatahillah Museums, near the Museum of Bank Indonesia, Bank Mandiri Museum and the Museum of Ceramics. We can found in this museum's puppet collection from many places in Indonesia such as Java, Sunda, Bali, Lombok, Sumatra, and also overseas, such as Malaysia, Suriname, Kelantan, France, Cambodia, India, Pakistan, Vietnam, England, the United States and Thailand. Total number of collection is approximately 5147 pieces.

Bank Indonesia Museum
Bank Indonesia Museum is located in the Jakarta old city, in front of the Beos Kota rail station, right next to the Bank Mandiri museum. This museum originally was a hospital Binnen Hospitaal, and then used as a bank that is De Javashe Bank (DJB) in the year 1828. Then, after the independence in 1953, this bank-nasionalisasikan in a central bank of Indonesia or Bank Indonesia. But not long, the year 1962, Bank Indonesia's move to new building. Building is left empty, but the BI board of governors appreciate the historical value of building up high, so take advantage and become melestarikannya Museum Bank Indonesia. This museum is inaugurated on 15 December 2006 by Bank Indonesia governor, Burhanuddin Abdullah.

Bank Mandiri Museum
Bank Mandiri Museum is one of museum that being part of Batavia old city. These include Fatahillah Museum, Puppet Museum, Bank Indonesia Museum, Bahari Museum, Sunda Kelapa harbour, etc. Going to this old city will bring us back to Dutch govern this city. This area was designed by Jan Pieterzoon Coen, a governor-general of the Dutch East Indies. He designed this area as an 'Amsterdam atmosphere' in Batavia.

Because at this place you can buy those things at the good price, especially for people who cannot bargain like me. There are 2 locations of Mirota Batik in Yogyakarta, First is between the Malioboro Mall and Beringharjo market, the complete address is Jl Jend A Yani No. 9, the second is at Jl Kaliurang 15.5 Km around campus UII.
